Enrolments are open for the Department of Education and Training (DET)’s What’s Next Out-of-Home Care fund, to help young people aged 15–21 who are, or have been, living in out-of-home care take the next step with training and employment. Through the fund, young people can access support in navigating the system to find training and career pathway options that appeal to them, and financial support for study related materials such as enrolment fees, uniforms, textbooks and occupational licenses. Registration is easy via email to WhatsNextOOHC@det.qld.gov.au with the young person’s full name, age, postcode, contact number, and an attached statement from the Child Safety Officer or a support agency confirming eligibility as a young person who is or has been living in out of home care, or consent for DET to confirm eligibility.
