This year, Australia’s fourteenth annual Anti-Poverty Week is 15th – 21st October. Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) has developed a series of Talking Points to facilitate the discussion of poverty and and inequality in the public arena. The Talking Points provide information on key messages, facts and ideas for further action. You can also read more about Anti-Poverty Week in last week’s In the Spotlight. There are also a number of  Anti-Poverty Week events taking place, including the Ending Poverty and Inequality in Queensland Forum at the Queensland State Library on Tuesday, 17th October 9.30am – 1pm, “The New Faces of Poverty” Discussion Panel at UNSW on Tuesday, 17th October 1pm – 2pm, and the Picking up the pieces: Good Shepherd and St Vincent de Paul Society Anti-Poverty Week forum at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, Melbourne, on Friday 20th October 11:30am – 2:30pm.
