The Queensland Productivity Commission (QPC) will be holding public forums around Queensland on the recently released draft report for consultation on the inquiry into service delivery in remote and discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The draft report finds that though there are examples of well performing programs and services, there continue to be wide gaps in outcomes between remote and discrete communities and other Queenslanders. Concerns were raised by stakeholders who perceived even in situations of over-servicing and duplication, there was an ongoing high level of unmet need. The report recommends changes to the underlying incentives governing how programs and services are designed, funded and delivered, including structural reform to localise accountability and decision-making and ensure greater responsiveness to service users.
Access the draft report, summary report and consultation summaries on the QPC website. Submissions in response to the draft report close Wednesday, 8th November.
Date: Friday, 20th October, 1pm to 3.30pm
Venue: QPC, 145 Ann St, Brisbane City
