Kids Helpline Australia has published the report Kids Helpline Insights 2016 providing an overview of the type of support sought from young people contacting the service. Some key insights included that counsellors responded to over 3,400 contacts each week from children and young people seeking information and support, with the five most common reasons for seeking help being: mental health, family relationships, emotional wellbeing, suicide-related, and dating and partner advice. New South Wales had the highest number of contacts with Queensland the third at nineteen percent of the national total. The average age of a young person making contact was 16.
