The 12 month progress report of the Queensland government’s Supporting Families Changing Futures reforms has been released. The report offers performance snapshots within the seven strategic decisions shaping the reform agenda, and key initiatives taking place in 2017-18. The report shows that of the 121 Child Protection Commission of Inquiry recommendations, 58 have been completed and 63 are underway. Achievements include: universal access to the Triple P—Positive Parenting Program and Talking Families initiatives; statewide rollout of Family and Child Connect and Intensive Family Support services providing early intervention services and support for vulnerable families; establishing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Wellbeing services; releasing the Our Way strategy and Changing Tracks action plan to address the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children in the child protection system; and  adopting a new practice framework that takes a strengths-based approach to working with families.
